Chapter 11
Drinking water and changing sources
Our treatment concept worked; the source water changed.
Two faucets, one useful lesson
We installed a separate drinking-water faucet with UV treatment. It worked extremely well for us in the United States. In Mexico and Central America, source-water differences meant treatment did not always solve the taste issue, so we eventually supplemented it with separate drinking water.
Treatment and taste are different questions
Water can fit your treatment plan and still be water you do not enjoy drinking. Build around the source conditions you expect, then stay willing to adapt when those sources change. For treatment design and limitations, use the Water System Guide rather than assuming every technology solves every problem.
