Common mistakes
Energy mismatch
Too little battery, too little charging or fantasy solar assumptions. Fix it with a measured energy model and worst-season plan.
Power mismatch
Huge inverter on a 12 V bank with weak BMS, cable, fuse or busbars. Size the entire current path, not the box on the wall.
Protection mistakes
Fuse too far from source, fuse bigger than wire, wrong interrupt rating, unprotected cable at a second source, or using a breaker with unknown DC rating.
Workmanship mistakes
Loose lugs, wrong dies, no strain relief, mixed wire colors, uncovered busbars, chassis used as an uncontrolled return, and hidden inaccessible splices.
Design mistakes
No busbars, no expansion space, no drawings, ignoring idle draw, or designing every component for impossible simultaneous maximum instead of deliberate load management.
Rule of thumb
If you cannot state the expected current, full conductor length, protection rating and manufacturer limit for a circuit, the circuit is not ready to build.
