Safety and redundancy

CDC and AVMA say not to leave pets in parked vehicles; interior temperatures can rise nearly 20°F in 10minutes even with a cracked window. An aftermarket A/C can fail from low battery, controller, fuse, compressor,condenser airflow or software.

Occupied use is different

Our system made the van livable for us and Chasey while we were present and managing it. It must not bepresented as proof that an unattended dog is safe.

If local rules and your veterinarian allow any brief separation

Use independent temperature monitoring, high/low alarms, power/SOC alerts, camera, redundantcommunications, a nearby human with immediate access and a written rescue trigger. These layers reduce risk;they do not erase it.

Heat illness

Excessive panting, difficulty breathing, drooling, weakness, stupor or collapse are emergency signs. Move tocooling and contact a veterinarian immediately; do not wait for the A/C to recover.

Non-negotiable

Monitoring and alarms reduce detection time. They do not make an unattended animal in a parked vansafe or override local law/veterinary advice.
