Chapter 19
Controls and operating sequence
Pre-cool early
Install covers/awning before heat soak and start cooling before interior mass reaches 105°F. Removing storedheat from dash, cabinetry and mattress takes much longer than maintaining temperature.
Load management
Avoid oven/induction and other high-heat loads during peak cooling. Charge laptops earlier, cook outside whensafe/legal and minimize repeated door openings.
Fan stages
Run all three fans until zones converge; then experiment with lower speeds while watching front/rear temperature. Do not optimize by sound alone.
Shutdown
Before battery reserve is exhausted, move people/pet to a safe cooled place, connect shore/start an approvedcharging plan, or end A/C operation. Define the threshold before the crisis.
System rule
Do not judge a cooling upgrade at the vent. Judge it by the hottest occupied zone, humidity, energy usedand whether the system can recover that energy safely.
CHAPTER CHECK
• I can explain which heat path this step addresses.• I measured its effect at front, middle and rear - not only by touch.• I added its power, failure mode, maintenance and safety action to the system plan.
