Chapter 22
Installation and commissioning
Before cutting
Confirm structure, airbag/wiring routes, weather sealing, condenser clearances, line lengths, drain route, electrical path, total vehicle weight and service access. Use a qualified HVAC/refrigeration professional forsealed-system work.
Build order
Reduce envelope load first; mount A/C and condenser; route/secure refrigerant and condensate; completeelectrical protection; add circulation fans; seal/insulate; then install covers/awning and monitoring.
First tests
Verify polarity/voltage, fan rotation, condenser airflow, condensate drain, coil temperature, current, low-voltagebehavior and controller modes. Inspect cables/terminals thermally at sustained full load.
Commission as a system
Run a sun-soak test, pre-cool test, full-day energy test, humid-day test, off-level drain test and roof-ventinterlock check. Record front/middle/rear results.
System rule
Do not judge a cooling upgrade at the vent. Judge it by the hottest occupied zone, humidity, energy usedand whether the system can recover that energy safely.
CHAPTER CHECK
• I can explain which heat path this step addresses.• I measured its effect at front, middle and rear - not only by touch.• I added its power, failure mode, maintenance and safety action to the system plan.
