Chapter 13

Energy and runtime

At about 0.8 kW while the compressor runs, 4 compressor-hours use roughly 3.2 kWh; 8 hours approach 6.4kWh before fan/other loads and any cycling difference. Measure actual Wh, not just elapsed time.

Usable battery

A 10 kWh nominal bank does not mean 12.5 guaranteed hours. Reserve, battery limits, voltage, temperature, other loads and conversion/wiring losses reduce practical runtime.

Solar mismatch

Our 750 W roof array may yield roughly 2-3 kWh on a good day depending on season/weather. It cannot reliablyreplace a heavy 6 kWh cooling day plus living loads.

Recovery sources

Alternator charging around 50 A, shore and load management close the gap. Cooling independence is anenergy-balance problem: stored energy only delays the moment generation must catch up.

Compressor time

A/C energy at ~0.8 kW

Meaning

2 h

~1.6 kWh

short pre-cool/afternoon

4 h

~3.2 kWh

large share of daily bank

8 h

~6.4 kWh

solar cannot reliably replace alone

12 h

~9.6 kWh

near nominal 10 kWh before other loads

CHAPTER CHECK

• I can explain which heat path this step addresses.• I measured its effect at front, middle and rear - not only by touch.• I added its power, failure mode, maintenance and safety action to the system plan.
