Chapter 25
Common mistakes
Buying A/C first
Without external shading, cab treatment and air distribution, the unit works harder while occupants still sit in ahot zone.
Confusing fans with refrigeration
Fans move air and improve comfort; they cannot make interior air colder than outdoor air. Exhaust fans activelyremove conditioned air when A/C is running.
Ignoring the DC side
Long undersized cable, weak connector or wrong fuse wastes energy and can overheat. Shortening cable onlyhelps when the whole path is correctly engineered.
Designing to one perfect day
Shade, full batteries and dry air can hide the worst case. Test full sun, humidity, low SOC, no cellular signal andfailed fan - while occupied and supervised.
System rule
Do not judge a cooling upgrade at the vent. Judge it by the hottest occupied zone, humidity, energy usedand whether the system can recover that energy safely.
CHAPTER CHECK
• I can explain which heat path this step addresses.• I measured its effect at front, middle and rear - not only by touch.• I added its power, failure mode, maintenance and safety action to the system plan.
