Chapter 06
How we assembled ours
Our sequence
We identified and positioned the brackets, measured, mounted compatible brackets to the existing rail, attached the crossbars, adjusted their position, placed the board, secured it and inspected everything. The job took us under two hours with essentially a wrench and measuring tape.
- Install the brackets intended for your rail or rack.
- Use the hardware and bracket manufacturer’s torque specification. Do not guess a torque value.
- Inspect the full assembly before driving and after any adjustment.
No drilling in our van
We did not drill holes into our van because the rail system already provided the connection we needed.
