The failure pattern

Most builds start with a fan or A/C, then discover the front cab is still an oven. A cooling device can only remove heat at its rated rate. If sun, hot metal, air leakage, people, electronics and humidity add heat faster, temperature rises.

Three paths in

Radiation sends solar energy through glass and onto surfaces. Conduction moves heat through the metal shell, glass, ribs and uninsulated cab. Convection/infiltration carries hot humid air through open doors, gaps and operating vents.

The five-layer answer

1) block sun before it enters; 2) slow conduction and leakage; 3) remove heat and moisture with A/C; 4)circulate conditioned air through the whole van; 5) monitor temperature, humidity and available energy.

Our result

In our Ram ProMaster, the incomplete setup allowed roughly 105°F/41°C inside. After building all layers and operating them together, we reached roughly 74°F/23°C in the conditions we filmed. That is a real result, not a guarantee for every climate, parking angle or van.

System rule

Do not judge a cooling upgrade at the vent. Judge it by the hottest occupied zone, humidity, energy usedand whether the system can recover that energy safely.
