Humidity and condensation

Why humidity matters

High humidity makes people feel hotter and increases the A/C latent load. Air movement helps evaporationfrom skin but does not remove moisture from the van.

Condensate

A functioning A/C can produce substantial water. Route a trapped/kink-free drain outside, protect the outlet andverify flow while parked off-level. Standing condensate breeds odor and can damage the van.

Cold-surface risk

Supply ducts, refrigerant lines and metal near the evaporator can fall below dew point and sweat. Usevapor-closed insulation and seal humid air from cold cavities.

Measure RH

Track temperature and relative humidity front/middle/rear. Comfort and condensation risk depend on both; a lower thermostat number with uncontrolled moisture is not a complete win.

System rule

Do not judge a cooling upgrade at the vent. Judge it by the hottest occupied zone, humidity, energy usedand whether the system can recover that energy safely.
